GIS & FIELD GEOGRAPHY

LA County Dept. Parks & Rec - Trails App & Website

Photographer, Videographer, Geographer

Los Angeles, CA 2019

Completed a three-month freelance field assignment capturing photo/video content, and geodata of multi-use trails and other outdoor recreation assets, for Los Angeles County Parks and Rec’s new trails mobile GPS app, and web map. Over this project, I hiked 45-trails for a total of 120-miles, and made 40-miles of river trail ride-alongs across LA County. Many of these trails are co managed with CA State Parks, US Forest Service, National Park, and BLM agencies, whom I worked directly with representatives from each throughout the project. Besides the physical field work, I provided photo and video edits, creative direction, production and content management, and performed two photo/video model shoots for promotional digital and print media. I also developed a GIS methodology to more efficiently and effectively project manage the acquisition of photo/video content, and geodata in the field for myself, and another photographer.

Outdoor Destination Publication

Field Geographer, Photographer, Writer

Eastern Sierra Nevada & Los Angeles, CA 2014-2015

Previously worked as a contributing content writer, photographer, and geographer for outdoor adventure review website Outdoor Project. I spent two weeks exploring the Eastern Sierra Nevada in California, where I recorded data for 21 different outdoor adventures from hiking, camping, rock climbing, hot springs and more. This required writing, photography, GPS surveying, and mapping for each adventure.

"Brochures to Hashtags: Ice Climbing with San Juan Mountain Guides"

Wrote a story about my first day of ice climbing under the instruction of San Juan Mountain Guides, in Ouray, Colorado. This story was a joint marketing publication I created between SJMG and Outdoor Project.
